Professional Negligence
Professional Negligence: Fight Back Against Negligence With a Colorado Springs Law Firm
The clients and patients who hire out the services of a professional in any field - whether it is medicine, accounting, architecture, law or any of a number of others - have no choice but to trust that their affairs will be handled properly and responsibly. In a very real sense, they lack the knowledge it would take to do otherwise. When professional negligence does occur, individuals face an uphill battle in their efforts to be compensated for the resulting damage.

However, if you have a legitimate claim, or even if you only suspect that you do, it's worth having a lawyer to look it over to advise you on how best to proceed. At Wills & Adams, LLP, we have experience handling professional negligence cases ranging from accounting to medical malpractice.
The Professional Negligence Review Process
In order to protect themselves from scurrilous litigation, and in order to make sure that only legitimate cases were brought against them, many professions demanded and received legislation from the Colorado congress that instituted a professional "review process."
In this process, every claim for professional negligence must be reviewed by a disinterested member of that profession to determine whether or not the claim has any legitimacy. So, if the design of your house caused it to collapse, an unbiased architect will have to review the claim before it can go to court. If that architect determines that your case has merit, then you can proceed.
A short discourse on knowing when to cut the strings -
Sometimes, even a claim that passes the review process is not worth taking to court - the potential settlement is outweighed by the probable cost of engaging in litigation. In these cases we advise our clients to file a complaint with the state agency responsible for issuing licenses to that profession. You may not recover a settlement, but you can see the offender punished for his or her negligence.
Of course, if we feel that your claim is worth litigating based upon our prior experience, Wills & Adams, LLP will not hesitate to do so. We will put all of our experience, skill, focus and zeal toward the pursuit of your best interests. For a free consultation, contact us online or call (719) 387-9923.
